You know who they are… the clients you don’t really enjoy working with, the clients that drain you rather than light you up. Clients you work with perhaps just because they pay you, not because you actually enjoy working with them. These clients are NON-IDEAL clients and if you’ve got them in your business it may be costing you more than you think.
I’ve seen non-ideal clients impacting the lives of my clients in major ways, often without them even realizing what is happening. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with you so you can do what it takes to AVOID non-ideal clients and the damaging effects of working with them.
Let’s start out with a basic truth from a spiritual perspective:
Non-ideal clients are people that you are NOT meant to work with.
It is not your purpose to work with non-ideal clients. They would actually be helped much MORE by working with someone else, perhaps someone with different skills, ways of expressing themselves or perhaps just a different mindset. This does not mean there is anything wrong with you! It just means there is someone who is better suited for them. And it’s for your highest good and theirs to let them go so they can find the person who IS meant to help them.
The 3 damaging effects of working with non-ideal clients are:
1. They Drain Your Energy
Working with a non-ideal client is EXHAUSTING! It’s draining to work with someone you’re not meant to work with. Often non-ideal clients are people you don’t really like that much, and even if you do like them, it likely CONSUMES your energy to work with them.
Working with ideal clients energizes you! That’s how it’s meant to be. So you can keep the fuel going to make an even bigger difference in the world!
2. Doubt Your Worth and Pricing
Your gifts, your message and your healing are PRICELESS to your ideal clients
This is because you are EXACTLY what they need.
But here’s the thing…
The same, incredible priceless gifts, message and healing you offer to your non-ideal clients does not have the same value because it often does not create the same results. Remember this has nothing to do with your value and pricing, it’s simply because they are not meant to work with you. To your non-ideal client your services are not priceless and often you and the non-ideal client can leave the session questioning if what you’re doing is of value to them.
So then you go off questioning your value, maybe questioning your pricing. Yet the problem is NOT your value… it’s that you’re working with a non-ideal client!
3. Question Your Purpose
When you see that your non-ideal clients are just not getting very good results, a common reaction is to take this questioning of their value one step further. And this is the most critical, most damaging effect of non-ideal clients…
They cause you to question whether you should even be doing this work. “Maybe this isn’t the work I’m meant to be doing…”
You begin questioning your purpose. You can have 10 clients getting amazing results that are truly priceless, you can be transforming the lives of these ideal clients in the most profound ways, just one non-ideal client can send you questioning your purpose.
Here’s the thing about questioning your purpose that makes it so damaging…
When you question your purpose you don’t move forward.
You’re stalled. You’re likely not feeling confident, getting your work out to as many people as you can. And when you’re not moving forward, all of those IDEAL clients who are MEANT to work with you are waiting.
Everybody misses out! You need FAITH to succeed and to continue reaching more and more people, you need to KNOW that the work you do is truly priceless, and you need all of the energy you have to do the work you’re meant to do.

I’ve been seeing more and more lately that a MAJOR issue facing Holistic Practitioners in their business is doubt. Do you face doubt often? Doubt in yourself, in your ability to make a difference in your client’s lives? In your worth? It’s time to take a deeper look at what doubt is costing you and to learn how to quickly shift out of doubt.
I’ve seen it so many times, no matter what causes the doubt, the effect of doubt is the same. When a Holistic Practitioner faces doubt, doubt in themselves, their worth, their ability to help their clients, doubt in their purpose and if they should even be doing this work something happens.
They stop taking action. They stop and question EVERYTHING! Or they stop and just do nothing. Either way, their foot is on the brakes of their business.
What happens next?
Their energy says STOP, so what do you think begins to happen in their business?
New clients rushing in? Nope.
New opportunities to get their work out? Nope.
Taking whatever action is needed to attract more clients? Nope.
If your energy says STOP, everything begins to come to a halt. Not only that but the clients you do have, the clients you are a light in the dark for feel it too. The light is out or very dim. The reason they signed on with you in the first place, the energy space they needed you to hold for them is gone. They feel it, you feel it and this only gets worse.
It’s 2012. Now is the time to step up to your purpose in faith. Now more than ever what you have is needed in the world. You are a lighthouse, a light in the dark for your clients.
And they need your light ON. They need you to keep your foot on the gas in your business, to keep moving forward so your light stays on for them.
There are many factors that contribute to doubt continuing to arise in your business. Too many to get into here, but I’d like to share with you a very powerful and simple 5 step process to shift out of doubt within minutes.
I’ve used this myself and every time I shift out of doubt and into belief. Getting out of doubt is not a one time thing. It’s like a bad habit that must be broken. So I recommend printing this out and having it beside your desk so you can keep your foot on the gas in your business and keep the light shining for those you’re meant to shine it for.
Here we go!
Step 1: Get Your Thoughts and Feelings OUT
Step 1 is all about getting all of those circling thoughts and feelings out of your mind and onto the page. In this step you write for as long as you like, until you feel you’ve gotten most of the thoughts and feelings out around what’s going on for you.
I know you’ve probably heard you’re not supposed to focus on the negative, that’s not what you’re doing here. These thoughts and feelings are already going on WITHIN you, might as well get them out!
Step 2: Ask yourself, is my focus on me or those I’m meant to help?
If you look at what you wrote in step 1, you’ll likely see that your focus is all on YOU. This is a major problem because it AMPLIFIES any doubt you are experiencing. Recognize that you are feeding the doubt by focusing on yourself and proceed to step 3.
Step 3: What pain, problems or challenges are your clients facing?
Here you begin to shift the focus off of you and onto the people you’re meant to help. Write all about what your clients or potential clients are facing right now in their lives. The problems you can help them with. Write as much as you can, really put yourself in your clients’ shoes and connect with what they are experiencing that you could help them out of.
Step 3 is where you take your foot off of the brake energetically.
Step 4: Why are YOU the one to help them?
Write all you can think of about why YOU are the person to help your clients or potential clients. What life experience do you have that relates to what they’re going through? Have you been where they are and gotten out of it? What do you know that could help them? What training and experience do you have that can help them? Why are YOU the one to help them?
Spend as much time as you can here, at step 4, energetically you are putting your foot on the gas. Your confidence and faith goes up with this important step, which is exactly what you need to get out of doubt and brakes on and back into faith and foot on the gas.
Step 5: Affirm “I Choose To Trust”
After your foot has been placed back on the gas where it belongs, it helps to remind yourself that God, the Universe is backing you. Remind yourself that you’ve been drawn to create this business for a reason, that you ARE meant to be doing this work, that your path is guided.
I love the affirmation “I choose to trust” because many times trust is a choice. You can’t wait until you trust 100% to be successful in business. Being in business is an act of faith in itself.
Now that you’re back into the energy of faith, what action can you take right now?
Get going on it! Keep your light shining! And come back to the 5 steps any time you need to, any time you find yourself in doubt.

You feel the pressure of trying to get your business going, trying to do all you can to support yourself from it. So why is it that with all of this pressure and desire to succeed you back down when it really counts? Getting distracted by anything that comes along or being overwhelmed by even the simplest next step? There is a deeper purpose to this distraction and overwhelm and until you see it, it could be creating an invisible ceiling on your success.
When distraction and overwhelm are showing up in your business, it typically means one thing.
Resisting your next level of success. Your way of keeping yourself exactly where you are.
What?! Why would you want to do that?
As ridiculous as it sounds, most people fear success. We would rather stay where we are comfortable even if it means not making enough money from your business, not being able to leave your old job behind and living in struggle.
On the surface it may appear as though you want success. You talk about it, work towards it, learn about it, take action but if you are finding yourself distracted and overwhelmed this indicates you may be avoiding your next level of success.
The path of moving from your career you chose out of fear, just for the money or to be acceptable to doing what you love, the work you are born to do is a major vibration and consciousness shift within. On this path you are moving from the known into new unknown territory. And if you want to accelerate your path then you will want to use distraction and overwhelm as the gifts that they are.
Here are two ways to do just that:
1. Recognize That Distraction and Overwhelm Are Signs You’re Approaching New Territory
Distraction and overwhelm are two powerful ways you keep yourself from the unknown, but they can also be used to show you when you are resisting the new. When you catch yourself in distraction or overwhelm, it’s time to look deeper so you can make a new choice.
The fact that you find yourself in distraction and overwhelm, stop and ask yourself what the new territory is that you could be moving into. Getting your work out in a new way? Getting your work out to new people? Doing something you have never done before?
When you are conscious of what you are really resisting, you can make a conscious choice to continue the way you have been, or to boldly step into this new territory where new realities and new successes can exist.
2. Make a Conscious Choice to Step Into that New Reality
Fear only works in the dark. Once you shed the light of your awareness on something you are avoiding because of fear the energy shifts and you will likely not feel the same about it. From this new place of awareness you are in a more powerful position and you can CHOOSE to step into the new reality you are being called into.
Once you’ve caught yourself in distraction and overwhelm and uncovered some of what the new territory is that you are avoiding moving into your next step is to make a conscious choice to step into that reality by taking action.
The action does not have to be monumental. Ask yourself, what would one simple step be that I could take to move FORWARD into this new reality? And take it!
Could other energies be at work under the surface sabotaging your success in your business?
