Why 80% of Small Businesses Fail (And How To Avoid This In Your Business!)

Do you ever wonder if you’ll ever succeed getting your business going?  Like you’ve put out endless effort to grow your business but it just isn’t happening yet?

I’d love to share with you a secret that you have likely heard before but one that is SO important.  A quote I read this morning sums it up pretty good:

“There seems to be a door on the way to remarkable success that can be passed through only by those willing to persevere beyond the point where the majority stop and turn back”  ~ Earl Nightingale

I’ve read recently that something like 80% of businesses fail within the first 3 years.

This is sad to me because often these same failures could have been huge successes, if they had just kept going.

How do I know?  Let me share a bit of a story about my own business…

At the 3 year mark, I made something like $8,600 in my entire third year of business.  So obviously things were not looking up, that’s a heck of a lot of effort put into something that didn’t “appear” to be working.

Here’s the thing…

If I would have quit then, I would be with the other 80% who “failed” in the first 3 years of business.

But that’s not what happened.

Within the first 5 months of that next year, I more than tripled my sales.  And my business has been growing at a rapid pace ever since, all of this even in spite of going through a recession in that time.

Why do I share this with you?

A couple of reasons.

I get frustrated when some business mentors paint a picture only of the success and forget to mention the truth about what it can be like to get there.  You see that rosy picture, then you look at your business which is miles away from that picture, and you feel discouraged because YOU can’t seem to get there.

And the other reason goes back to this, I’m not really sure “failure” is the right word.  I’d say most often failure is what happens when you give up too soon.

I could have been a “failure” but instead, I kept going.  I didn’t give up.  I got help.  I did whatever it took to find the way to succeed.  I didn’t stop until I found the way.

Because the way is there.

And I’m glad I didn’t give up.  If I gave up, not only would I not be living this life that is totally incredible to me, based in freedom, passion and authenticity inside and out… But all of the clients I have helped free themselves to live their purpose could still be stuck.  And that is sad.

You have an important purpose, your work, your wisdom, your gifts, your energy ARE needed in the world.  Right now.

So do you have to wait until year 3 to take off in your business?  I don’t think so.  The energy in the planet right now supports your success.  I watch how quickly things move with my clients and I am amazed.  The time is now.

If you don’t want to wait forever, I suggest you take a shortcut, and the only one I know is to find someone who is ahead of you on the path, who knows the shortcuts, who has been where you are and has gotten out of it and to learn from them how to speed up your path.

There are plenty of great mentors out there, I’ve learned from many myself, but I do recommend making sure that the person is fully aligned with you, is similar enough to you that they can understand your challenges and really know how to get YOU from where you are to where you want to be.

It’s time step up and shine!

There are even more secrets to growing your business faster, particularly as a Holistic Practitioner or healer as you likely have unique challenges that most business mentors have no clue about.  I’d love to share more with you at my upcoming FREE workshop:

“Grow Your Holistic Business Faster! Avoid the 3 Massive Mistakes Most Holistic Practitioners Make That Stop Them From Making The Money They Desire & Deserve”

This workshop takes place in New York City September 10th, Edmonton September 15th, Calgary September 20th and Vancouver October 19th.

http://fearlessfaith.ca/GYHB

Do whatever it takes to be there, this could be THE turning point in your business.  It’s time to step up and shine.  Your people need exactly what it is that you have but, if you’re not succeeding in your business, that means they can’t find you.

The Hidden Gift in Distraction and Overwhelm

You feel the pressure of trying to get your business going, trying to do all you can to support yourself from it.  So why is it that with all of this pressure and desire to succeed you back down when it really counts? Getting distracted by anything that comes along or being overwhelmed by even the simplest next step?  There is a deeper purpose to this distraction and overwhelm and until you see it, it could be creating an invisible ceiling on your success.

When distraction and overwhelm are showing up in your business, it typically means one thing…

Resisting your next level of success.  Your way of keeping yourself exactly where you are.

What?!  Why would you want to do that?

As ridiculous as it sounds, most people fear success.  We would rather stay where we are comfortable even if it means not making enough money from your business, not being able to leave your old job behind and living in struggle.

On the surface it may appear as though you want success.  You talk about it, work towards it, learn about it, take action but if you are finding yourself distracted and overwhelmed this indicates you may be avoiding your next level of success.

The path of moving from your career you chose out of fear, just for the money or to be “acceptable” to doing what you love, the work you are born to do is a major vibration and consciousness shift within.  On this path you are moving from the known into new unknown territory.  And if you want to accelerate your path then you will want to use distraction and overwhelm as the gifts that they are.

Here are two ways to do just that:

1. Recognize That Distraction and Overwhelm Are Signs You’re Approaching New Territory

Distraction and overwhelm are two powerful ways you keep yourself from the unknown, but they can also be used to show you when you are resisting the new.  When you catch yourself in distraction or overwhelm, it’s time to look deeper so you can make a new choice.

The fact that you find yourself in distraction and overwhelm, stop and ask yourself what the “new territory” is that you could be moving into.  Getting your work out in a new way?  Getting your work out to new people?  Doing something you have never done before?

When you are conscious of what you are really resisting, you can make a conscious choice to continue the way you have been, or to boldly step into this new territory where new realities and new successes can exist.

2.  Make a Conscious Choice to Step Into that New Reality

Fear only works in the dark.  Once you shed the light of your awareness on something you are avoiding because of fear the energy shifts and you will likely not feel the same about it.  From this new place of awareness you are in a more powerful position and you can CHOOSE to step into the new reality you are being called into.

Once you’ve caught yourself in distraction and overwhelm and uncovered some of what the new territory is that you are avoiding moving into your next step is to make a conscious choice to step into that reality by taking action.

The action does not have to be monumental.  Ask yourself, “what would one simple step be that I could take to move FORWARD into this new reality?” and take it!

Could other energies be at work under the surface sabotaging your success in your business?

One Simple Costly Mistake that Could Be Costing You Thousands in Missed Sales

Do you often feel disappointed with the results you have created through your efforts in your business?  You start out envisioning great success then the reality doesn’t appear to be going in that same direction?  There is one costly mistake I have seen many spiritually conscious entrepreneurs make when this happens and it takes some shifts in thinking to get out of it.

As spiritually conscious entrepreneurs we tend to be great dreamers but we’re also pretty sensitive so when it feels like the reality is starting to appear as though it is not going to match what we envisioned we can just want to back off to avoid feeling disappointed.

It’s one thing to “fail” but it’s a whole other thing to believe, to trust, to expect the best and THEN to “fail”. It hurts a lot worse and that added sensitivity doesn’t help, so it appears easier to back off instead.

So while this is going on internally and it appears as though backing off when evidence seems to be the opposite of what you envision is “safe” it is a HUGE mistake…

I’ve seen repeatedly that it’s the belief that plays such a huge role in creating our results.  Fearless Faith is about trusting UNTIL the results show up.

I’ve seen 3 specific incidences in the past few months where the immediate evidence said what I was doing was not going to be successful.  But I didn’t let myself back down, I trusted the inspiration that got me going in the first place and I kept going.

And you know what happened?  These 3 times the initial evidence had nothing to do with the final results. The initial evidence said “it’s not going to happen, this is a failure” but the results?  Over $30,000 in sales that would not have happened had I backed down.

It’s SO costly to give up too soon!  Who knows how much you’re leaving behind by stopping too soon.

But what if no results show up?  Let’s say you trust, you keep going and you still fail, then what?

If you “fail” then you learn from the experience, it’s as simple as that.

You ask yourself “what can I learn from this experience?” or “is there something I need to learn, support I need to get so it’s more successful next time?”

Sure it takes you digging deep to find that brave self inside of you but I’ve found that this is necessary on this path.  This path of becoming a successful spiritual entrepreneur is not for those who choose to be small. Eventually you will have to take a risk, step up and put your whole self in.  And when you do you will really see things start to shift.

There are several energetic dynamics that can be at play to make this more difficult but you can still get started now.

Next time you find yourself wanting to back down when the results don’t appear to be as you expected I challenge you to be bold, to be brave, to continue to move forward, to trust whatever inspiration got it all started in the first place and to be willing to “fail” so you can learn.

It’s amazing how hard we are on ourselves.  Imagine a little kid trying to learn to ride a bike.  You can’t just expect yourself to be successful until you’ve mastered all of the skills involved with being successful just as the kid has to wobble, fall and get back on the bike.  It is only logical.

Let yourself trust, let yourself wobble, fall and get back on! Be ON the journey, show up fully and be willing to learn in whatever way it takes so you can succeed.

Could you be missing out on potentially thousands of dollars of in.come without even realizing?

Have You Turned Over Your Financial Power to Others?

During difficult financial times it is easy to get caught up in feelings of powerlessness.  During these times it is also easy to begin seeing your clients or something external as the source of your income in your business.  But this view on the financial power being outside of you is the last thing you want and actually holds you in financial lack and prevents abundance from coming into your business.

So what happens when you see your clients, your partner, your savings, your retirement or some other external source as your financial source?

You actually repel money and clients away from you in your business.  When you see your power as outside of yourself you do not own the incredible power you do have to create exactly what you want.

Seeing your clients, partner or anything else external as your source also leaves you feeling needy and dependent on others.  And your potential clients can feel it.  And while support is a great thing, signing on clients is a great thing, handing over your financial power is not.

At one time I saw my partner as my financial source and security.  I didn’t realize it at the time but this was actually preventing me from being able to be my own financial source and had prevented my business from taking off.  As soon as I had left that relationship I in essence stepped into my power and owned my role as the creator of my financial reality.  Within 5 months I had more than tripled my business.

Why is that?

Because seeing something outside of yourself as the source of your abundance means you are not in your power in your business.  And it is simply not the truth.  More importantly:

If you are going to create a successful business doing what you love then you must be in your power and own your power as the creator of your financial reality.  There is no other way.

So let’s get you started in reclaiming your power over your financial reality with 3 shifts in perspective:

1.  The Universe is your source, YOU are your source, your connection to the Universe is your source

When you look at potential clients as your source of income it immediately brings you into the energy of attachment.  And with attachment comes a needy feeling that they can pick up on (yuck!).  It also narrows your focus to a specific person and a specific outcome, which in essence is a restriction of your energy. And restriction of your energy is the last thing you want!

This restriction can manifest in so many ways including loss of connection to your passion and the reason why you are doing this work in the first place, disconnection from your higher self as you are so focused on the external and a restriction of income.

In order to open up this restriction you need to acknowledge the true source of your abundance, which is You, the Universe, God or whatever you choose to call this higher power.  You are the creator of your reality whether you do this unconsciously or intentionally.  You know this, but it is time to reaffirm it if you are feeling as though something external is your source.

The mo.ney and clients you attract are both created from within you. Take back your creative power by reaffirming this.  Remember that you can work at the level of cause, your clients and the income you have are the effect of YOU.  The Universe brings to you what you are ready for, what you believe in and what you take action to help create.

2.  I choose to let go of my powerlessness

Seeing others as the source of your abundance shows on some level your belief in your powerlessness. As much as I’m sure you hate the thought of being a victim, allowing yourself to feel powerless sets you up to be a victim.

As a spiritually conscious person there are many deeply buried energetic blocks that are likely in the way of you fully stepping into your power.  And because being in your power is so important healing these deeper issues and being able to feel safe stepping into your power is one of the steps in the Fearless Faith System.

But you can start now with a simple choice.  Choose right now in this moment to let go of the idea that you are powerless and ask to be guided to how you can step into your power, how you can be the financial power in your business.

3.  Bring your focus to within

Seeing an external thing as your financial source is in essence looking outside of yourself for what you need.  On a deeper level you know it is impossible to “get” something from outside of you that you do not already match inside.

If you find you are looking outside yourself, stop and begin to look within.  Notice how you feel, acknowledge how you feel and choose to do what you can to feel better. Remind yourself that you create based on what is going on inside of you and for a moment choose to bring your focus to what you really want.  Envision what you would love to create and bring in the feelings of having what you want here now.

It all comes down to YOU and though this thought can be scary might as well just face that fear right away rather than have it under the surface keeping you powerless.  You CAN create abundance in your business.  It is part of the higher purpose of your business.  Remember that, own that and act as though it were true and you will be surprised what can open up in your reality.

Is Fear Blocking the Universe’s Support for You?

I have found that the Universe does not step up until we do.  But if you’re like most spiritually conscious people, fear can really get in the way of you stepping up and can actually keep your business stuck where it is or growing at a slow pace.

Fear says “don’t do it”, it meaning anything that is a potential risk.

Yet stepping up is in essence taking a risk, choosing to believe in yourself and your business and following through with your guidance on what stepping up looks like for you.  Perhaps investing in a program you feel drawn to, hiring a business coach, starting up a newsletter, whatever the Universe brings as your next step.  Even if your logical mind says it’s not a good idea.

Fear can keep you frozen, stop you from taking risks, keep you in situations you don’t belong in, stop you from doing what that quiet voice inside is urging you to do.  Fear can get in the way of you stepping up and being supported in ways you can not even imagine are waiting for you, even in this moment.

It frustrates me to see people afraid to take risks, to see that their fear is overpowering their intuition.  It frustrates me because I used to be one of those people.  And little did I know it held back my business growth in the most profound ways and that by choosing fear I was actually choosing to keep the incredible support of the Universe AWAY from me.

A few years ago I was in a relationship that if I admitted to myself at the time, was not at all where I wanted to be.  Yet I stayed because my business was nowhere near at the place where it could support me financially.  And I didn’t want to go back to my old Engineering career.

My logic said, if I stay I will be financially supported to continue with my business and if I left I would be forced to go back to a job I didn’t enjoy.  That is the normal logic.

But when you are a spiritually conscious entrepreneur the logic really doesn’t work like that.  The Universe’s logic is far more loving and supportive than you can imagine.  It’s actually us that stand in the way of that loving support by holding onto situations and our “safe” life when we could be soaring.

I’ve seen this twice now in very obvious ways.  Within 5 months of leaving that unsupportive relationship and moving with my 3 big dogs into my Mom’s house (which killed me to do!) I had multiplied my sales and was able to move out on my own without going back to my old job.

Could logic have seen this possibility?  No.  Yet to the Universe it WAS logical.  In fact, there was no way I could have succeeded until I had left because the energy dynamics I was in would not allow it.  And from a higher perspective, I had to get out of this dynamic in order to succeed.

Fear wants to keep you in situations and expressions in your business that keep you small and “safe”.  But the Universe wants SO much more for you.  Way more than what you could ever even begin to imagine when you let fear run the show.

Revealing the Beauty Within

© 2008 Fia Crandall

Fear. Doubt. Not believing we deserve good things. Feeling less than others. Feeling not good enough. Shrinking down. Hiding our true self.

This is so normal in our society. To experience any or all of these on some level. It is actually more normal than the expression of the beauty and magnificence that we are all inside.

On some level we feel it is safer to shrink down. It is safer to hide our light, our beauty, to hide what makes us unique.

I know this all too well, in fact my biggest fear growing up was any form of creative self-expression. For others to see who I really was. The fear of being judged and not accepted. I even chose an “acceptable”, not so creative or expressive career because of this fear.

A major part of my journey from my old “safe” career to doing the work I love here has been to release all of this fear, pain, doubt, shrinking down. To drop it and to just allow my true light to shine. Your talents come naturally, when they are not blocked by your fear and lower thoughts and energies.

So when you think of who you really are inside, maybe you don’t see the beauty now, maybe you just feel the fear as I did before. When you feel this, know that it is natural and normal. It’s all part of our journey here in this life.

And to choose to discover and reveal this beauty is to choose to grow beyond these restrictions. To choose to be the beauty that secretly you know you are inside. To allow this beauty to be discovered, to allow what is blocking it to be dropped is what leads us down a path of immense growth and of ever-expanding joy and energy.

Just as fear is a restriction, revealing your true self, your true beauty is such a wonderful expansion. As you let this beauty be revealed you are revealing more of your Divinity. You are allowing your unique light to shine through into this life, into this world.

Maybe you’re not ready to let yourself shine fully to the world. But maybe that true self is ready to start to be revealed. Maybe it’s time. Maybe it’s time to choose expansion over shrinking down. To choose life over dullness. To choose growth over stagnation. To choose to discover and reveal the beauty that you are rather than to hide it even from yourself.

The Universe is here to support you in this journey. Your job is to choose it. Even just to choose more. To stop settling for being less, for feeling less, for experiencing less than what you know is possible for you.

So today, ask yourself, are you ready to choose more? Are you ready to take your life to a new level?

Maybe it’s time.

You may not know how and that’s normal. But the Universe is here to support you more than you know. If you choose to go higher, if you choose to discover your true beauty, if you choose to reveal it, you will begin a journey that is more fulfilling than anything I’ve ever experienced. To be who you knew you always were deep down is to truly know a freedom and joy like no other.

What’s Holding Back Your Purpose?

© 2010 Fia Crandall

One of the most interesting things I find about people on a spiritual path is that almost each and every one of us seems to feel unworthy, not good enough, small and not capable (not that they come across this way to others).

And usually these beliefs are tied right into the area that they are meant to shine in.

Although there was no logical explanation why, when I was a child I was terrified of expressing my true self, I remember being so scared of creative writing and of being different than everyone else.

But guess what?

I WAS meant to be different than everyone else. I was meant to express my most authentic self and to be creative because that is my work here. This is what I came to do.

The very thing I was afraid of and nervous about was what would eventually bring me the most fulfillment and meaning I could ask for, that nothing else could compare to.

You see, this fear can unconsciously stop you from pursuing your most fulfilling path. I definitely know this to be true for myself and also know what having courage to face this has meant for me.

Is your life as fulfilling and meaningful as you want it to be? Do you know that you are meant to be more, to do more with your life but you don’t know how or what it might be?

Give yourself a moment to tune in and open to some answers.

I want to challenge you to open to discovering what you may be holding yourself back from.

Step out of the box of fear for a moment, the easiest way to do that is by using your imagination. The best thing about your imagination is that you can go places that you couldn’t in your regular life. Even if you think of something that’s scary, it is not real!

And in order to ensure fear is not controlling this experience for you, set your intention first off by saying to yourself “I am willing to see what I may have been holding myself back from out of fear”.

Recognize that by asking about this you are not saying you’re willing to do anything different, you’re just getting more information.

Get quiet, close your eyes and ask yourself:

What am I secretly afraid of?

What do I fear yet at the same time I’m also drawn to?

What might this show me about my purpose and what I’m here to do?

What ARE the fears about me following my heart to live the most fulfilling life I can? That I will not be accepted, that I will be abandoned if I do a certain thing or pursue what’s in my heart?

I truly believe each of us are here for a reason. I believe that you have a place here that no one else can fill. One that you ARE good enough for and fully capable of carrying out. You bring a unique energy to the world that is needed.

And in order to pursue this, you must step up to the challenges and fears that you planned for yourself. You must face the challenges on our path that are there to shape you and so that you can actually grow into the person you are meant to become, that Bigger You.

There’s no map. There’s no right or wrong way. But there is a big difference between forward movement and holding yourself back from that Bigger Life that’s waiting for you. What will you choose?

Are You Hiding From Your Challenges?

© 2010 Fia Crandall

Are there challenges in your life that you really don’t understand?  And do you actually avoid looking at these challenges because you are not competent in your ability to move beyond them?

Recently it has become more and more obvious to me that spiritually conscious women are very good at seeing the best and focusing on the good.  The flip side of this is that they can be very good at ignoring the bad, especially the challenges that they don’t know what to do about.

At first this appears to be a good thing, when you consider the Law of Attraction.  But I’ve found for myself that this ignoring of the challenges can be more harmful than good.  And there is a real powerful energy to a person who is willing to look, to be honest with herself about what is going on and then to find a solution.

I remember when I was first building my business, I wanted to be at a point of success where I could be only doing what I loved and fully leave my old career behind.  I would be visualizing, focusing on the good and still nothing was really happening to take me forward financially in the way I had wanted.  Rather than face what was happening honestly, I tried to just put a happy face on through it and expect it to all work out.

What I didn’t realize is that there were many aspects to this challenge that I needed to see and understand if it was ever going to get better. And after a major life change I didn’t have a choice anymore, I needed to move beyond this challenge and fast.

So what did I do?

I stopped trying to just “be positive” and I really allowed myself to take an honest look at it all.  It was not necessarily comfortable but I knew I needed to do this.

Because the truth I’ve found is that you can’t change what you don’t face.

You attract what matches your ENTIRE energy, what you’re conscious of AND what is below the surface.  Might as well face the darkness within you so you can finally begin to attract the reality that you want.

There is light in your awareness that can break up the darkness, allow you to see things in a new way and allow you to have powerful realizations that can take you forward.

What I saw clearly was that I was lacking the business knowledge to take my business beyond the point I had taken it to.  And with the added drive that the life changes had given me (others might call this a crisis!), I had the energy behind me to find the way.  To take what was a huge challenge for me and to turn it around into a major success.

Within 5 months of doing this my business was 300% higher than it was the year before.  I had the courage to look.  I saw what I needed to see and I allowed myself to take new actions, get the support I needed, the support the Universe had brought right to me, to overcome this challenge and to be guided to a new way of being.

None of which would have been possible had I not taken an honest look and faced the challenges rather than pretending they don’t exist.

So what is the big challenge in your life that you have been avoiding?

Do you see that by doing this you were affirming the belief that there is no solution or way out?

What if instead you affirmed that you could create whatever you want, that you would be guided forward, that the answers and solutions would come to you?

Imagine what you could create then…

Start now.  Write down on a piece of paper what the challenge is that you haven’t been facing.  And let yourself write all about it.  Be willing to discover more about yourself, what has been driving you in this area and what fears you have about it.  Let yourself look, bring the light of your awareness to this dark place and see possibilities where there was once impossibility.

Don’t fear what you can’t see, face it!  There’s a gift in it and can only be opened once you look directly into it.

Is Your Extreme Sensitivity Covering Up Something Deeper?

© 2010 Fia Crandall

Are you extremely sensitive to the needs and opinions of others?  Are you good at anticipating how others will “take” you, often adjusting your behaviour depending on who is around?

As a spiritually conscious woman, you are likely very sensitive to the needs and opinions of others, it is probably a very normal part of who you are.  While this may appear to be a wonderful trait from the outside, I’d like to point out a deeper aspect that you may not be aware of.

The deeper aspect of this wonderful trait may actually be causing you to hide your true light and keeping you small when the deeper part of you wants to shine.

Have you ever stopped to wonder why you were so sensitive to others’ opinions and judgments?  Why you were so good at anticipating others’ needs and reactions?

Think about it, just how many people around you are sensitive to you in this way?

And, would you ever expect them to be?  Or would you just want them to be themselves?

In the Intuitive Healing work I have done for myself and with my clients I have come to see that there is a deeper cause of this over-sensitivity.  And that there is a very damaging dynamic underlying it that could be causing you to hold back the very light you came here to shine to the world.

The Deeper Cause of Over-Sensitivity is the Fear of Rejection

I have found it to be very common that spiritually conscious women have had past lives where they were rejected in a major way for being their true selves. I’ve seen it countless times for myself too.  I’ve seen it too many times to just ignore it.  I’ve come to accept that it’s actually a very common problem that needs to be dealt with so you can be truly free to be the light you know you’re meant to be.

Here’s how it works:

Deep down in your being you remember what happened when you were being yourself, you remember how you were rejected or punished for being who you really were.  And along with that memory comes fierce self-protection.

You will never let yourself experience that pain again, and just how did you make sure of it?

You became super-sensitive to others.  You became good at hiding your light at any threat of judgment or danger.

These deeply buried past life memories of rejection cause you to adjust your behaviour and how you portray yourself to the world to be “dimmed down” or not authentic so you do not get rejected as you were in the past.

Being super-sensitive to others’ reactions and opinions is your way of making sure you are being “acceptable” so you don’t get hurt.

Can you feel deep down how this may be true for you?

I have always been extremely sensitive to how others saw me, but what I now realize was underlying this extreme sensitivity was the need to be accepted. And looking back I now see how clearly being accepted was higher up on my list of priorities than being my true self as I look back.  I chose an “acceptable” career of Mechanical Engineering which was fine but only a quarter of who I really was.  I put a happy face to the world and tried to make other people happy, often at the cost of my own happiness.

Does this resonate?

Thankfully I changed this.  And now my number one value is authenticity and because of it my life is a true reflection of Who I Really Am, inside and out.

If I hadn’t changed this old dynamic I would not be here writing to you right now.  I want you to know that you can change it too.  This dynamic is out of balance and it’s time to bring it back into balance.

Start now by stopping yourself when you notice you’re coming from that super-sensitive state.

Stop and ask yourself some questions:  What am I afraid of here?  How am I denying my true self in this moment?  Can I see how I may be trying to protect myself, even if it doesn’t make logical sense?

And know that with this new clarity, you are free to make a new choice.  You really are meant to shine, and this over-sensitivity and deep fear of rejection has got to go.  It’s an old energy rooted in a dark time.  It’s time to step up and choose your light over your fear.

Being grounded in the light of who you really are is where you belong.  And when you are grounded in your truth you also give permission for others to be the same… Are you with me?

The “New Logic” Behind the Leap of Faith

Are you feeling like you need to make a change but fear what might happen if you actually go through with it? Feeling called to take a “leap” even if it doesn’t make sense to those around you?

I have been there a few times and have learned some important things that have changed the way I view these changes and I’d love to share them with you.  If you find yourself at a crossroads, afraid of doing what you know in your heart you are meant to do, I hope this opens your eyes and heart to a more supportive way.

I am finding myself at yet another “cliff” in my life.  And as I make my way to take my leap I am realizing a lot about the logic I operate by without even thinking about it, which is very different than the normal logic we are shown in our society.  I want to share with you about what I am calling the “new logic”, what I have found is much more realistic than the normal left-brained logic our society has conditioned us to use.

Let me share with you a story from my own life to show an example of how the “new logic” can work.

A few years ago I was trying so hard to build my business, yet couldn’t seem to bring it to the point where it could fully support me.  I was doing this work I loved full time but was primarily financially supported by my partner at the time.  After working on and sharing a new process on overcoming fear with my clients, I suddenly found myself realizing that the relationship I was in was no longer right for me.

Now the old logic kicks in to say “you can’t live on what you make, you’ll have to go back to your Engineering job”, but there was something deeper telling me otherwise.  I was not willing to go back to my old career and I truly did believe that the Universe didn’t want me to either.

So I did something that seemed “logical” to me, but to others around me may have seemed crazy.

I made a choice.

I left a situation that was no longer right for me.

I chose to believe in myself, I chose to believe, 100% that I could support myself, to believe, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, that I could really do it.

I chose to believe in myself and did whatever it took to back up that intention with serious action and support.

And the brief summary of what happened after that…  A business program came along that I felt so connected to and although I was scared and it was a significant investment, it felt right so I signed up.  I ended up staying with family for 5 months and in that time, brought my business to a whole new level.

Within 5 months I was able to support myself and move out.

And the amazing result that could not have been predicted by regular logic?  That year my sales increased by 322% over the previous year before I had made this change.  I was able to support myself.

Unbelievable.  Now I’ll be honest to say that this leap of faith experience was certainly not the easiest time of my life, in fact it was quite challenging on all levels, was uncomfortable at times and stretched me beyond what I could have imagined.  But I wouldn’t have traded it for anything else.  This experience helped me grow into who I needed to be.

So what can you learn from this experience?

#1  The logic of the Universe is not the same as the normal logic in our society

It is not logical in our society to have a 322% increase in sales.  I heard in a business training course once that it is normal to have a fifteen percent increase in sales.  I’ve had that “normal” increase in sales in the middle of a recession, now is that logical?  Not to the rest of the world but to me it is absolutely my truth, my reality.

You want to start small to become in tune with the logic of the Universe.  You do this when you check within for your answers and take action on it, rather than just going by the normal logic.

Listen within.  This skill and your confidence in using it will develop over time ONLY when you use it!  Faith is like a muscle that grows only when you use it.  Start small to begin building this muscle for yourself.

#2  Sometimes your circumstances can’t change until you step up

Sometimes what is happening in your life that needs a change is impacting your energy so much that you literally must make that change BEFORE what you want to happen can possibly happen.  There are some lessons that simply can’t be learned until you put yourself in that uncomfortable place of the new and unknown.

I have come to see that the Universe steps up when you do.  And even more than that, the Universe WON’T step up UNTIL you do.  The very things you want to change or are wishing were better might not change until you step up in a new way that you are being guided to and may have been avoiding because it scares you.

EVERY time I am brought to the edge of a cliff in my life I know it is with great purpose.  And I realize that it is likely something I must do to become who I do not yet know I can be.

Your new reality requires a new, evolved you to live it.

Who might you become if you make your leap of true faith guided by your deeper self instead of stopping yourself by the tired old logic that keeps you small?  Start now with a small leap of faith backed by guided action and belief in yourself.
